Allocations/Outcomes Volunteers
Duties include:
Attend allocation training and study all program funding requests assigned
Attend all sessions where agencies present their requests
Prepare questions for agencies to clarify requests
Take part in the committee's decision making process to allocate the funds
   
Areas studied in the allocation process:
Budgets
Programs
Management reviews
Audits
Funding sources and reserves
Outcome measures
Needs assessment
Long-term expenditures

Book Drive Coordinator
This volunteer would work on the Fun Learning Moments Book Drive program.  Kicked off on United Way's National Day of Action on June 21st, this on-going community wide program will be conducted quarterly to collect and distribute books int the hands of deserving children.  The focus is on 3 to 4-year olds.
Activities include:
Sending correspondance about the program
Coordinate with companies to run a book drive
Collecting and organizing books
Distributing books
Help develop and manage the collection/distribution plan database
Work with community early childhood educators
Attend Early Childhood Education community initiative meetings
Assist in reporting results to date, both verbally and in writing for community presentation
 
Qualifications
Good organizational and management skills
Professional demeanor with good presentation skills
Enjoy working with children and families
Computer skills

If you have any of these qualities, consider becoming a Loaned Executive for the United Way. Working with the United Way staff, Loaned Executives plan, organize and implement campaigns in workplaces throughout Madison County, serving on average 8 to 10 hours per week for 17 weeks.

Management Review Volunteers
Duties include:
Attend training and receive submitted materials
Divide committee into functional study groups if necessary
Study submitted documents
Gather any additional information needed
Check accuracy of findings within committee before compiling final report
Prepare final draft and recommendations with an implementation plan which includes a schedule for the completion of each recommendation

Governance
Administration and management
Financial management
Financial accounting systems
Human resource management
Program management and planning
